10 Bible Verses to Read to Dad This Father’s Day

June 16 is Father’s Day 2019. Celebrate your gratitude to dad, grandpa or any father figure in your life while keeping in his faith in the lord.

Here are 10 beautiful scriptures that even the modern day dad can relate to and the Christian Strong dad decode for those who want the contemporary breakdown on all things Bible.

1. Ephesians 5:25-37

The Quote: “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.”
Dad Decode: Dad sacrifices a lot for your family. Just like he has to make sacrifices for his wife, he must sacrifice himself for his family. Just like Jesus Christ sacrificed himself, your pop works hard at the office, at home, and beyond to provide you and your family with the best life you are blessed with today.

2. Psalm 128 3-4

The Quote: “Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table. Yes, this will be the blessing for the man who fears the Lord.”
Dad Decode: This one is for the dad that is totally blessed. He loves his wife and his children and believes his life is a gift. Your pop is a happy dad and is proud of their family!

3. Joshua 1:9

The Quote: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."
Dad Decode: You look up to your dad – he’s a role model in your life. He’s strong and brave and takes whatever comes in his life. Perhaps he does this because the Bible tells him? Show dad you admire him with this verse.

4. 3 John 1:4

The Quote: “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.”
Dad Decode: We are all Jesus' children, but you and your siblings are your Dad’s only children. He knows how much he cherishes you, so show how much you cherish him! Live your truth just as Jesus says and you will inevitably show your love for your Dad, too.

5. Psalm 103:13

The Quote: “As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him.”
Dad Decode: You love your dad – even when he plays or played bad cop in your childhood. Just like the Lord has compassion on his believers, a father has compassion on his children. You love dad even when he has to lay down the law – he’s got such a huge heart!

6. Proverb 4:11 – 12

The Quote: "I will guide you in the way of wisdom and I will lead you in upright paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hampered, and when you run, you will not stumble."
Dad Decode: Your dad has taught you everything you know. Just like Jesus, Pop guides you through life and makes sure that you always have support – even when life doesn’t always go your way.

7. Colossians 3:21

The Quote: “Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged.”
Dad Decode: Your dad always has your back. Even when you fall a couple of times, you can always get back up by the encouragement of your dear ol’ pop! Just like Jesus encourages all of his children to keep going even when times are tough, Dad has always cheered you on from the sidelines and taught you to do the same to your children.

8. Proverbs 22:6

The Quote: “Dedicate your children to God and point them in the way that they should go, and the values they’ve learned from you will be with them for life.”
Dad Decode: Your dad is not only a role model and hero for you but for every man, woman, and child in every day life. Leading by example is what the Bible preaches to those within faith. Show dad that he has been an excellent display of values and beliefs – give gratitude to him with this beautiful scripture of thanks.

9. 1 Timothy 4:8

The Quote: For athletic training only benefits you for a short season, but righteousness brings lasting benefit in everything; for righteousness contains the promise of life, for time and eternity.
Dad Decode: You dad hits the gym almost every day. He works out to have a healthy lifestyle for as long as he lives. However, a pop like yours knows that fitness isn’t everything. Just like God said, righteousness is the key to a long and happy life (but hitting the gym definitely doesn’t hurt, either!)

10. Proverbs 23:24

The Quote: “The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him”
Dad Decode: This one is for the dads that truly know that parenting is one of the greatest gifts they can give. If they are grateful for this responsibility from Jesus and have raised you with wisdom, he will love to hear this quote.
