Share Your Faith on Independence Day
A desire for religious freedom led many people to leave England and sail for the American colonies, back in the era when our nation was born. It truly is a blessing to be able to openly share our faith. These days, you may suffer some persecution, but it’s nothing as serious as execution, which Christians today face in places across the globe. Since Jesus came to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10), why not celebrate the 4th of July by sharing your faith?
Sharing your trust in Jesus can be as simple as wearing a patriotic Christian tank top or as bold as passing out witnessing tracts. Wherever large crowds gather, many Christian groups take advantage of the opportunity to reach large numbers of souls in need of a Savior.
Blessings of the Soul Winner
Spreading the Word is a way to share and stir appetites for the gospel. In multiple scriptures, we find a commission to tell of God’s marvelous works (Psalm 96:3). Mark 16:15 says,
“Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” (ESV)
For obeying God in these things, we are blessed.
God with Us
The thing that most sets a Christian life apart is the presence of God, which is like a foretaste of heaven.
First, we are promised the presence of God in our lives when we do His work. (Matthew 28:19-20)
Rejoicing!
Rejoicing is ahead for those who participate in converting souls. In John 4:36, Jesus says those who sow seeds of the gospel and those who lead individuals to salvation will rejoice together. This means the person who shares a message of God on their Christian t-shirt, the friend who invites someone to church, the stranger who showed Christ’s love to someone in need, and the pastor who preaches about salvation all have a part in leading individuals to eternal life.
Heavenly Reward
The faithful winner of souls will hear these words from Matthew 24:21:
“Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”
Heavenly Glory
Soul winners will be recipients of heavenly glory, as it says in Daniel 12:3:
“They that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars forever and ever.”
Importance of Righteous Living
A righteous life is an obedient life and a firm foundation on which to build. It is only when we allow the Holy Spirit to display the character of Jesus in and through us that we are living righteous lives. Since God doesn’t want any person to perish (2 Peter 3:8-10), we will tell about Jesus and the gospel with our lives. We will stand before Jesus one day to receive our eternal rewards. It says in 1 Corinthians 3:11-15:
“For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.”
Happy Independence Day!
It’s pretty wonderful to know that you could enjoy a fun, relaxing 4th of July celebration and, at the same time, share the Good News of the gospel. When you look around at all the things going on in the world today, it’s pretty obvious that the beautiful message of God’s love is needed more than ever! You could be the reason someone finds freedom from sin through Jesus, and that’s an even bigger deal than the original signing of the Declaration of Independence.
